ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to process the editorial omissions and corrections, and to forward ISO CD 19104 (document N 1237) to the ISO Central Secretariat for issuing as DIS.

ISO/TC 211 confirms the approval of the following new work item and endorses the nomination of project leader:

WI 19137 Geographic information - Generally used profiles of the spatial schema and of similar important other schemas

The project is assigned to Working Group 7.

ISO/TC 211 instructs the project leader to consult with the project team regarding resolution of the comments to the title and scope. ISO/TC 211 further instructs the project leader to forward the proposed changed title and scope to the secretariat by 2002-07-01 for ballot among the members. The project team shall proceed with the work while the ballot is in progress.

Resolution 215 Terminology maintenance group (TMG)

ISO/TC 211 resolves to retain the TMG under the convenorship of Mr. Andrew Jones, to review and update the ISO/TC 211 on-line terminology repository.

ISO/TC 211 instructs each Working Group convenor to nominate two representatives from their working group to the TMG by 2002-06-30 and authorises the TMG convenor to invite additional members as necessary, to ensure:

Resolution 216 New work item proposal to address harmonization and enhancements

ISO/TC 211 is pleased to accept the United Kingdom's offer to draft a NWIP for a Technical Amendment to address harmonization and enhancements for all the 19100 standards in order that the amended standards can be published in a timely and efficient manner.

Further more ISO/TC 211 requests the United Kingdom to submit by 2002-06-17 to the secretariat the NWIP for ballot.

Resolution 217 Cooperative agreement between ISO/TC 211 and Digital Geographic Information Working Group (DGIWG)

ISO/TC 211 appreciates the draft cooperative agreement from DGIWG. ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to review the proposal in cooperation with the ISO Central Secretariat and forward the final text of the cooperative agreement for approval by the ISO Council.

ISO/TC 211 wishes to express its gratitude to ESRI for the offer to provide the ISO/TC 211 stand at the ESRI User Conference in San Diego in July 2002 and at the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg in August 2002.

Resolution 225 Convenors of Advisory Group on outreach

ISO/TC 211 welcomes the nominations from the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) of Mr. Henry Tom and from Germany of Professor Dr. Hans Knoop as convenors of the advisory group on outreach.

ISO/TC 211 accepts both nominations and appoints them as co-chairs of the advisory group for a period of two years.

Resolution 226 Proceeding of ISO DIS 19115 Geographic information - Metadata

ISO/TC 211 resolves to delete the informative annex F, clause J.3 and any references to these, in ISO DIS 19115, as requirements for XML DTDs are replaced by requirements for XML schemas in 19118.

ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to process the corrections above and other editorial and minor technical improvements in accordance with the ISO Directives, and to forward ISO DIS 19115 to the ISO Central Secretariat for issuing as FDIS.

ISO/TC 211 resolves that an implementation UML model and an XML Schema for metadata in compliance with ISO 19115 and 19118 will be a new work item proposal for a Technical Specification. Based on discussions at the 14th ISO/TC 211 plenary, the new work item proposal will be submitted for ballot by 2002-06-30.

ISO/TC 211 believes that the current effort to develop appropriate procedural and technical standards for registration should continue. ISO/TC 211 therefore directs:

The consensus of ISO/TC 211 is that a register for catalogues should be established initially as an internal repository after the appropriate standards have reached the DIS stage.

Resolution 230 Response to OGC proposal for TOCG strategy

ISO/TC 211 recommends that the chair of ISO/TC 211 and the chair of TOCG meet with representatives of OGC, including the chair of OGC TC, to discuss the future cooperation between ISO/TC 211 and OGC. As a consequence, ISO/TC 211 recommends that the TOCG does not meet until this meeting has been held.

Resolution 231 Registration of ISO CD 19118, Geographic information - Encoding as DIS

ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to finalize the editing of ISO CD 19118, including making annex A informative, and to forward ISO CD 19118 (document N 1136) to the ISO Central Secretariat for issuing as DIS.

The annex of XML encoding rules will be made normative as a part of the amendment process described in resolution 216.
